Tungsten-rhenium alloys combine the very high melting point of W with the ductility-enhancing properties of Re. Compared to pure tungsten, WRe grades exhibit a higher recrystallization temperature, greater strength and significantly better ductility; they are also easier to weld or solder. They are frequently used for thermocouple wires as well as cables and filigree components exposed to high temperatures. Below you will find the standard grades (WRe3, WRe5, WRe26) with compositions, available shapes and data sheets.
Grades & data sheets
| Variety | Composition | Available as | data sheet |
|---|---|---|---|
| WRe3 | W 97% / Re 3% | Wires, filaments, foils, rods, parts according to drawing | Material data sheet |
| WRe5 | W 95% / Re 5% | Wires, filaments, foils, rods, parts according to drawing | On request |
| WRe26 | W 74% / Re 26% | Wires, filaments, foils, rods, parts according to drawing | On request |
